French passementarie is the art of making elaborate trimmings or edgings.

This early textile is an example of beautifully woven jacquard silk and linen. It is of excellent quality and aged condition. There are no rips or major stains. Just the perfect patina that can only come with authenticity.

Originally, it was part of a larger piece of fabric as there is only one salvaged edge. The other edge has been evenly cut to create this beautiful border. The yellows, creams, greens, and gold silk threads come together to create a stunning example of French textiles.

This would make the perfect border around a pillow, the length of a drapery, bedskirt, or duvet. It has a wonderful hand that allows it to be used in haute couture construction.

You’ll never find this textile again.
