Set of English Blue & White Sunday School Dessert Porcelain Plates
Set of English Blue & White Sunday School Dessert Porcelain Plates
In the 19th and 20th centuries, English congregations used porcelain plates with their names and sometimes the date of their founding to serve refreshments following Sunday services. They are rare to find, especially a set of 8.
This charming collection of cream and French blue dessert plates is from the Hill Top Church Sunday School, 1907. They are marked “Ceramic Art Co. Ld., Crown Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent” in the Cotswold.
They are in lovely antique condition with appropriate wear to their gold rims. There are no chips and only one hairline mark on one plate. Please see the next to last photo.
They measure 6 inches (15.5 cm) in diameter.
A special addition to your Blue & White dish collection.
