Set of 19th-century Ironstone Duck Egg Green Fruits & Leaves Plates
I wish I knew more about these 4 plates. I fell in love with both their color and the embossed design of leaves and fruits. I picked them up years ago at a brocante in Gers, in southwest France. They are unmarked.
I can see them layered on your harvest table as a focal point. They are beautiful and the only ones I’ll ever find. The color is a duck egg blue/green. I don’t find this color often. There is variation and some imperfection in the original glaze pointing to their age. If you love old ironstone, you’ll understand why we cherish the patina of these pieces.
One plate does have two chips on its underside. Please see the last photo.
While I’m inclined to use them on the table, they would be perfect as display plates hung on the wall or adorning a Welsh dresser. This would protect them from use.
