Is there anything more sweet than an ironstone chicken eggcup? Vintage egg cups elevate the humble soft-boiled egg to the perfect French centerpiece of any breakfast table.

I saw my first egg cup at my Aunt’s home in Europe. She presented two soft-boiled eggs with rustic bread and homemade butter. While it took me a while to come to terms with this new-to-me egg preparation, I fell in love with the cups. Ever since, I have kept my eye out for vintage examples of eggcups.

I suppose you can use them for other purposes as well. Why not have them hold your favorite beads or buttons in your atelier? Use them to display decorated Easter eggs. Fill them with jams and place them at individual table settings.

This is a collection of 5 eggcups all in very good vintage condition. They are unmarked but I found them at a brocante sale here in southwest France. They sit upon a ceramic plate with a wooden holder. So easy to display on your brunch table.

Each egg cup measures:

2 inches (5 cm) in diameter and 3 inches (8 cm) tall

The stand measures:

6 ½ inches (6.5 cm) in diameter and 6 inches (5.5 cm) tall.
