Antique French Turned Wood Thread and Needle Case with Awl

$68.00

I love antique sewing tools. These were used as a French soldier’s sewing kit and date from the early 1900s. They are wonderfully compact, providing a place for your thread, needles, and a hidden awl. I have one that I keep with my current embroidery project. The wood feels delicious in my hand.

Often, a thin twine was added to the spool, and the awl allowed for the piercing of leather or heavy linen goods. The bottom unscrews to reveal a place for your needles.

A beautiful collectable for any seamstress, needleworker, or leatherworker. All three are in very good antique condition. There is varying degrees of light rust on the awls but I have left them in their original state and you can decide to take a bit of fine steel wool and give them a quick swipe.

Remember, you cannot take these on an airplane! The hidden awl would make security confiscate the antique and make you very unhappy.

Each measures 5 ½ inches (14 cm) in length.

NOTE: The price is for EACH sewing kit. I have labeled them with a letter so that you can make your choice. Please consult the photos.
